When taking bird portraits, I like to use foreground or background elements whenever possible to add detail, depth, texture and overall compositional interest. I saw this Great Egret with his full breeding colors posed on a nearby tree branch. I moved my position and compose what I thought was an interesting view of this beautiful bird. The early morning light accents draw interest to the birds head and face.
